Eileen Fisher

"We don't want sustainability to be our edge, we want it to be universal." -Eileen Fisher

Eileen Fisher's vision is for a future where human rights and sustainability are not the product of a particular initiative but the cause of a business well run. Where social and environmental injustices are not unfortunate outcomes but reasons to do things differently.

Nomadica Brand Review

Eileen Fisher is one of the larger apparel brands featured on Nomadica. In 2015, they announced their new Vision 2020 which is one of the most aggressive campaigns for sustainability and social responsibility we've seen from a company their size. Their vision outlines the steps they're taking in eight key areasmaterialschemistry, water, carbon, conscious business practices, fair wages & benefits, worker voice, and worker & community happiness.

All of the products featured from Eileen Fisher are made of sustainable materials in an SA8000 certified factory or in the USA.

Sustainability

Eileen Fisher uses a combination of natural, organic, undyed, and recycled materials to make their clothing. While some of their materials are not sustainable, they are dedicated to using 100% organic or recycled materials by 2020. Eileen Fisher has also been working with bluesign® technologies to shift their global dyehouses toward responsible chemical, water and energy usage.

Social Responsibility

Eileen Fisher works hard to ensure their operations and partners remain complaint with SA8000 standards. The company maps out their key focus areas in their Vision 2020, which guides them on sourcing of materials, ensuring human rights are upheld and understanding their supply chain from farm to garment.

In India, they launched The Handloom Project, a six-year investment program designed to empower weavers in rural communities. Since 2005, Eileen Fisher has supported an alternative supply chain in Arequipa, Peru. The cotton is local and organic, dyes meet the Global Organic Textile Standard and workers are paid higher fair trade wages.
